Cards Across the Borders – The Different Variations of Baccarat Based on Location

Culture and customs can change drastically across borders. From the language spoken, the clothing worn, and the norms and mores of a society, borders do more than separate people. They can change the parameters of leisure as well. One needs to look no further than the 新加坡赛马排位 game of Baccarat to understand the power of geographical delineations.

Basic Foundation

The game of baccarat is a counting or value-based casino game. Though the number of players can range, there must be at least two to have a true game, no less. The two essential players at this foundation are the banker (dealer of the cards) and the player (the one who tries to beat the dealer). The goal of this casino game is to get as close to nine as is possible. The dealer, be it a designated individual at a casino or another player, will deal two cards to themselves and two cards to the individuals playing. Winning the hand is who has the hand closest to nine points, the dealer or themselves Cards between 2 and 9 hold their valuation (i.e. 2=2; 9=9). Face cards have no value in the game and aces are 1. To add the scores, individuals count up their points and drop the one (i.e. a hand of 14 will drop the one and be a score of 4). Whoever is closer to eight or nine wins, with a third card optional depending on the variation.

Chemin de Fer

Chemin de Fer is the French variation of baccarat. In this game, there is no one designated banker. Rather, the banker rotates among the players, without the need for a single individual playing that role. Further, there is no designated rule for drawing the third card. A player can either choose to draw it or not. This game is most popular in European countries and, most definitely, France in

Nevada Baccarat

A more traditional version in the United States, Nevada baccarat relies on a single individual designated as the banker. Unlike in Chemin de Fer, there is an automatic rule for drawing the third card. A player must take the third card if they have in their hand no more than five points. In this way, they are forced to draw the card if their two-card hand is less than six.

Baccarat en Banque

In the baccarat en Banque, there is mainly one difference between the aforementioned variations. This European version of the game says that three hands of cards can be dealt and as little as two people can participate at one time. Other of the aforementioned require at least three individuals. Further, the bets can be made between all three hands but must focus on the player’s hands to guess who wins.
